Joy is in the Giving!
This was learned many years ago at the start of my healing journey. It started with volunteering with my daughter as part of our church elderly ministry where we visited assisted living facilities to bring them a church service. My daughter and I would help pass out the song sheets and other items for each of the residents who participated. We also made sure to take time to greet everyone.
Service grew throughout the years. Volunteering in the church Sunday school program for the children was next, followed by serving as a Youth Sponsor in our Teens ministry. From there, I facilitated several ladies’ small groups and after meeting my husband, we both continued in service together as Sunday School teachers for teens and then as facilitators for the DivorceCare ministry for 7 years.
I also volunteered in our community at large in a variety of roles
- Big Sister for the Big Sister Big Brother
- Guardian ad Litem for the Judicial 19th Court System
- Tutor with Hibiscus Children Services
- Prayer Hotline volunteer with CareNet (previously known as Crisis Pregnancy Center)
Besides our own nonprofit, Bella Healing Hearts Foundation, where we help single parent families via support, mentoring, educational scholarships and financial assistance.
There are several organizations that speak to our heart and we do our best to support them via financial donations and/or helping to promote their causes.
We have partnered with the following organization as a sponsor
Food for the Hungry
1 male child
